Dr. Sumiko Hamilton-Hervey BS, MPA, MeD

Dr. Sumiko Hamilton-Hervey has taught Special Education students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Dr. Hervey holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from the University of North Texas, a Master of Public Administration from Texas Southern University, and a Master of Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University. Dr. Hervey received her Ed.D. in Special Populations from the University of Houston.

Sumiko is a staunch advocate for children with disabilities. She works closely with Katy ISD and CyFair ISD to ensure that the students of Smartie Pants Academy Center Houston receive the correct placement, accommodations, and modifications for a successful school year.

Her goal is to make Smartie Pants Academy Center Houston a safe place where special needs children are loved and can learn based on their individual needs, while providing supplemental instruction to ensure development and growth.

She wrote her first children’s book titled, “I’m Normal Too: Josh and His Voice Output Device,” in 2013.
