The vision of Smartie Pants Academy Center is to educate, promote, and produce successful individuals that despite their disability can become productive individuals in their community.
Five years from now, Smartie Pants Academy Center will have helped create a safer, more promising child care center for children with special needs by helping them acquire the education, skills, and resources needed to build self-sufficient prosperous lives.

Tailored Education for Special Needs

At Smartie Pants Academy Center, we are committed to our mission of making a difference in the lives of children with special needs. Our tailored education approach ensures that each child receives the support and resources they need to flourish and reach their full potential.

Dr. Sumiko Hamilton-Hervey Executive Director

Dr. Sumiko Hamilton-Hervey has taught special education students at the elementary, middle, and high school level. Dr. Hervey also holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from the University of North Texas, Masters of Public Administration from Texas Southern University and a Masters of Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University.

Dr. Hervey completed her Doctorate Degree in 2020 from the University of Houston specializing in Special Populations including Special Education. She is a huge advocate for children with disabilities. She works closely with Katy ISD, Cypress Fairbanks ISD and Harmony Charter Schools to ensure that students receive the correct placement, accommodations, and modifications for a successful school year.

Her goal is to make Smarties Pants Academy Center a safe place where special needs children are loved and can learn based on their individual needs while providing supplemental instruction to ensure development and growth.

She wrote her first children’s book titled,
“I’m Normal Too, Josh and his Voice Output Device,” in 2013.
